Report

Rookie competitor Jordan Brown showed, last Sunday, that he is improving in the 'Young Driver' Autotest category. That is until the third test route came up and Jordan made two thirty point penalties resulting in his drop to tail-ender for going the wrong way - twice! Unfortunately his car expired on him during the fourth test so he was unable to improve his points score. Jordan still has done enough to win the trophy for Best Young Driver of the year.

With two ladies contesting the award for Best Performance in their category both established driver Karen Laughton and rookie Corey Symonds were entertaining in their rivalry. First to pick up penalties was Karen who, very uncharacteristically, got hers for a wrong route in the first test. Corey was penalty free until the third and fourth in which she demolished three course markers. With both competitors down by thirty penalties it came down to time to complete the course and Corey was quicker by just eighty seconds earning her the trophy for Best Performance by a Lady Driver.

Jordan's Father, Roy Brown, put in his usual very rapid drive in the Polo he shares with Jordan. Having thought they had fixed the problem experienced by Jordan, things looked good for a podium finish until the car started emitting strange sounds followed by terminal engine shutdown causing him to retire from the fourth test. However, due to his earlier speed, Roy still achieved fourth overall.

Johnny MacKay was out in his electric blue MGZR and, as usual, kept the peddle to the metal and, despite destroying a stack of tyre boundary markers coupled with a wrong route on a previous test, he brought his car home in third place.

Adam Eddington had decided to dedicate the Corsa to Autotest and this was evident by the very fast, yet smooth, completion of each test resulting in a very creditable second place.

The top spot was achieved by Andrew Moar. To say that Andrew was fast doesn't come close to describing the way he hand braked his way to an amazing one hundred and eighteen overall lead. The gods must have been smiling on Andrew as the Subaru Justy exploded a drive shaft CV joint close to the finish line to allow him to coast across the finish line.

With just one week to the next Autotest it remains to be seen if anyone can challenge Andrew for the Championship lead.
